Egyptian Butter Cookies
Ghorayeba are Egyptian butter cookies which, like other Mediterranean butter cookies, are easy to make and are delicious. On this post you will also find a video recipe. Just click on the old TV. Here is how you make them.
2 cups flour
1 cup casting sugar
1 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
20 almonds peeled & halved
Using a mixer beat the butter for 3-4 minutes or until the butter becomes mousse- like texture. Add the casting sugar and mix for another 2-3 minutes. Add the vanilla extract and flour to the mixture. Mix until everything is incorporated.
Place in a bowl and let sit in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
Divide in bite size pieces. Form into disks and place on a buttered baking pan. Place almond on top of the dough.
Preheat oven to 180 Degrees Celsius with air. Bake for about 15 minutes. Leave cool and enjoy! A truly great treat.
